Dec 2017 Cure GM1 Update

Make a Year-end Gift to Honor GM1 Children and Families

Please help us end this banner year in the strongest way possible.  Make a holiday gift and participate in our holiday Be the Light campaign.  Your support helps fund potentially life-saving medical research.  November was an excellent month for fundraising and Cure GM1 is just $70K away from raising $1M for the year!  Please help us reach $1M by the end of this month.

Cure GM1 has no paid employees and very, very minimal overhead.  The maximum amount of funding possible is being allocated to advancing medical research for a cure or treatment.

Research Update

This year, Cure GM1 launched 2 new research programs, one in collaboration with Dorphan and another lentiviral gene therapy project at UC Davis.  Both projects continue to progress.  Cure GM1 has contributed to 4 research projects to date.

At present, the UMass/Auburn IV gene therapy requires funding for the remaining activities is needed to move to the clinic.  Lysogene continues to advance another gene therapy program in collaboration with the UMass/Auburn team with clinical trials now planned for 2019.  BioStrategies continues to develop their enzyme replacement therapy and IntraBio continues to work to also advance to clinical trials.

With your help we can continue to push for more progress to help save children’s lives.

Easy ways for you to help now!

This month, please consider joining our Be the Light campaign!  Click on the image or here to read more about the initiatives and how you can help.  The end of year is an excellent time to donate and to close the year out with a charitable gift towards saving children’s lives!

Time to get ready for the holidays and we need your help reminding families and friends about our foundation.  Click on the image for more information and designs!  Please consider printing holiday postcards/inserts to include in your holiday mailings.  These little gestures all add up and can help make a difference.

GM1 Patient Network and Invitae/Patient Crossroads Platform

Believe it or not, the simple act of providing information on a platform trusted by bio techs is a powerful tool.  We must show that GM1 patients are organized and care about joining together to provide information to help plan clinical trials.  The GM1 Patient Network is a collaborative effort to build a comprehensive anonymized patient registry.  If you have not joined already, please fill out this NEW web site link:

  • Make a holiday donation in the spirit of giving and ask others to consider making donations as well.  Donations can be made online or checks can be sent to Cure GM1 Foundation, PO Box 6890, Albany, CA 94706.
