From Taylor, Kase, and Kolt’s Mother
Three of my five children were and are affected by GM1 Gangliosidosis.
Taylor was my first child who unfortunately was affected by GM1 Gangliosidosis and in Sept of 2008 she left my arms, grew her wings and flew high.
Kase, my fourth child and my second son was diagnosed in May of 2013. He eventually lost his battle with GM1 Gangliosidosis at the sweet age of 23 months.
And lastly, Kolt, my fifth child and my third son, the baby of the family was diagnosed when I was about 4 months pregnant. He too will eventually loose his battle to GM1 Gangliosidosis, but in the meantime; His sister, brother, and I are enjoying our time together, as we did with Kase and and I did with Taylor.
As my children who have been and are affected with GM1 Gangliosidosis walk through this journey, we are always a family. We walk in beauty with them.
I live by a quote by a country song by Gary Allan, “Life ain’t always beautiful but it’s a beautiful ride.” GM1 Gangliosidosis isn’t beautiful, but within the depths of facing GM1, we discover other beauties that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
