Setting up an online fundraiser on Facebook is quick and easy! Here’s how:
1) Go to Facebook.com/fundraisers or click here.
2) Click on the green “Raise Money” button at the bottom of the left column menu. (OR you can also click the blue “Select Nonprofit” button in the box that says “Raise Money for a Nonprofit”).
3) A popup will appear that asks “Who are you raising money for?” Select “Nonprofit.” Another popup will appear with a place to type in the nonprofit’s name. Type in “Cure GM1 Foundation.”
4) Next popup will appear that says “Let’s Start with the Basics.”
Who are you raising money for? Keep “Cure GM1 Foundation” (or re-type it in if it does not autofill).
How much money do you want to raise? Type in a goal (for example, $1,000).
When should your fundraiser end? Enter date.
Click NEXT.
5) Next popup will appear that says “Tell your story.”
What’s the title of your fundraiser? Example “Eli’s #Giving Tuesday Fundraiser for Cure GM1 Foundation.”
Why are you raising money? Example: “This #GivingTuesday I’m raising money for Cure GM1 Foundation and your contribution will make an impact, whether you can donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. And on Giving Tuesday December 3, Facebook will match a total of $7 million in donations. Thank you for your support! I’ve included information about the Cure GM1 Foundation below.” (You will see information about Cure GM1 Foundation already autofilled in).
Click NEXT.
6) A popup will appear that says “Pick a cover photo.” Choose a photo to use, then click the “Create” button.
7) After you have set it up:
Invite/share it with friends and family, then….
Post about it on Social Media (several times a week leading up to Giving Tuesday on December 3rd)!
Join by Donating, Sharing, Emailing, Posting! Please recruit your friends in advance and ask them to set up Facebook fundraisers too before Giving Tuesday so that the posts will be ready to be shared!
